Admission Process

Students who earned a baccalaureate degree from a recognized accredited university in the United States must submit the following.

  1. A completed graduate application form.
  2. The application fee.
  3. Official transcript(s) of all previous college work.
  4. Official GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score.

International students must submit all of the above information plus:

  1. Official TOEFL score.
  2. English translations of official transcripts.

Admission Formulas

Students who earned a baccalaureate degree from a recognized accredited university in the United States must satisfy at least one of the following two formulas to be admitted into SHSU’s MS in Finance program.

200(Undergraduate GPA1) + GMAT Score >= 1100

200(Advanced Hours Undergraduate GPA2) + GMAT Score >= 1150

1 The undergraduate GPA is the GPA from courses taken at the degree granting institution. Transfer grades are not used in the computation of this undergraduate GPA.

2 The advanced hours undergraduate GPA is the GPA from junior and senior (300 and 400) level courses taken at the degree granting institution. Transfer grades are not used in the computation of this undergraduate GPA.

Students who earned a baccalaureate degree from a university located outside of the United States must satisfy both of the following to be admitted into SHSU’s MS in Finance program.

  1. GMAT score of at least 450.
  2. TOEFL score of at least 213 (computer based) or 550 (paper based).
